Explore the life and art of a quintessential Jewish artist, Marc Chagall (1887-1985). Born to a poor Hassidic family in an East European village (shtetl), Chagall evolved into a world-renowned artist. From paintings to prints to stained glass and tapestries, this Belarusian-French artist created an amazing world of fantasy and reality. Discover why his painting, I and The Village, was so important to him and to the world! An oil on canvas painting, the work is Cubist in construction and contains many soft, dreamlike images overlapping one another in a continuous space. Nancy Kotz will be our guide. Since 2015 she has been presenting programs in person and virtually to audiences across the country for Jewish Art Education. She holds a B.A. (Skidmore College, 1984) in Art History and Business, as well as a Certificate in Nonprofit Management (Georgetown University, 2011).
