"I want to let you know how much you have added to this village-concept to really make it a village. I have lived in my neighborhood for over 35 years. This is the first time I feel as if I know my neighbors as friends. So much is due to your coordinating efforts and being there in time of need. And with such love and enthusiasm.”

"BMAV is a wonder because it’s so social, full of engaging, vibrant, interesting and interested, and kind people. This is what’s special for me as a newcomer to Bethesda."

"I'm so grateful now for this village at a time like this."

“BMAV has enriched my life beyond measure. I have made new friends and new acquaintances.  The members are warm, welcoming and caring to help each other. I am delighted to be a part of the group. May BMAV grow and continue to provide such a positive sense of community.
I am lucky to live in Bethesda and to be a part of the village!”

At the core of the Village concept is that we are community. Whichever level of membership you choose, you can enjoy the many benefits of our programs now and know that you are helping to support services you may need in the future.

Hear from BMAV members and volunteers in a videohere.

BMAV offers two levels of membership:

Social members have access to a full calendar of social events, receive a weekly email with event information and our newsletter, as well as access to an online membership directory.  Social members are welcome from any neighborhood in Bethesda not served by another village.

Full Service members receive the benefits above as well as access to our volunteer service providers.

BMAV has neighbor volunteers offering:

- transportation (rides to BMAV events and personal appointments and errands),
- friendly phone calls or visits,
- light home maintenance tasks (like getting on ladders to change lightbulbs or lifting items),
- limited technical assistance in the home for computers and other devices (such as set up or basic troubleshooting),
- absent owner services outside the home such as watering plants and picking up packages (for up to three weeks), and
- occasional non-medical respite care for primary caregivers
- medical notetaking (accompanying member to doctor visits)
- home repair "companion" to keep you company while a third party repairperson is in your home
- garbage can placement (pulling cans to curb and back)
- limited snow removal (at stairs, porch or path to car so member can exit safely)

Full Service memberships are available to residents within our boundaries.

BMAV's service area:

BMAV serves the neighborhoods of Kenwood Park, Landon Village, English Village, South Bradley Hills, Bradley Village, Battery Park, Edgemoor, Greenwich Forest and Kenwood Forest.

If you are age 50 or over and live within the BMAV boundaries of Old Georgetown Road and Wisconsin Avenue to our east, Glenbrook Rd/Little Falls Parkway to Hillandale Rd to Chevy Chase Dr to Goldsboro on the south, River Rd on our west, and Wilson Ln to Huntington Pkwy on our north, you are eligible to become a Full Service member.

Residents of other neighborhoods not served by another village are eligible to become Social members.

BMAV’s dues:

$300 a year for an individual Social membership. $600 a year for a household (regardless of size) for the same benefits.

$450 a year for an individual member seeking the complete package of programs and services.
$750 a year for a household (regardless of size) who want the same access to all programs and services.

(Social members who experience a change of status during the year and find they need Full Service benefits can upgrade their membership on a pro-rated basis.  Contact us for details.)

BMAV’s policy is that no one who wishes to be a member should be excluded for financial reasons.
The village’s mission is to help neighbors who want to stay in our neighborhood by offering services and social activities that make that possible for all of us, even as we age and our circumstances change.

If you are concerned that you don’t have room in your budget for membership, BMAV will work with you to make it happen.  On an individual basis, we can offer a reduced fee membership plan, or a payment plan, whenever appropriate.  All requests for a reduced fee or other financial accommodation are treated confidentially.  Please contact our Executive Director at director@bmavillage.org or 240-630-2628 for more information.

We invite you to check us out before deciding to join!
Potential members are invited to attend up to three members-only village events so that you can discover the benefits of membership.  Contact director@bmavillage.org for more information or to RSVP for an event.
