Green burials. Green burials are characterized by simplicity: the unembalmed body is wrapped in a shroud or placed in a biodegradable casket, then buried without a vault and allowed to decompose naturally. Two green burial sites are opening in Maryland, including one in Silver Spring. This session will explore green burials. We may also touch on other ways to dispose of dead bodies, including alkaline hydrolysis and natural organic reduction.
Talking about death and dying may seem like a challenging conversation, but in our Aging Well meetings, it is fascinating, constructive, and useful. All BMAV members are warmly invited to attend this popular SIG led by Chris Palmer.
