About this event
Start 2023 with an In-Person Visit to DC’s new Rubell Museum. Located in the 1906 building of the former Randall Junior High School, the Rubell Museum DC opened its doors on October 29th dedicated exclusively to contemporary art. The inaugural exhibitions include Sylvia Snowden and What’s Going On which draws its title from Randall Junior High School alumnus Marvin Gaye’s 1971 album. Totaling 32,000 sq ft, the museum preserves the original layout of the historic school. What was once classrooms and teachers’ offices have been transformed into galleries with artwork that provides perspectives, insights and commentary on contemporary ideas and issues. The new glass pavilion entrance will feature a bakery, bookstore and terrace. Tickets: $12/senior (Please purchase your own ticket online.) RSVP through BMAV website, Stephanie Sutton, or Elizabeth Haile by January 18. We will meet at 1 ending with a stop at the bakery and bookstore. (Ticket is valid for the whole day, 11:30-5:30.) Interested in taking the Metro or carpooling? Contact Stephanie Sutton.
