What is this?
Learn about one of the most consequential lawmakers of the 20th Century—former Indiana Senator Birch Bayh. During his tenure as U.S. Democratic Senator from Indiana (1963-1981), Bayh authored two constitutional amendments and was "the father of Title IX—a law guaranteeing women access to educational and athletic programs in higher education. Explore the impact of this extraordinary man who worked with allies and adversaries alike on important issues, including civil rights and equal rights for women.

Join us as Indiana-born author Robert Blaemire discusses his biography and experiences with Senator Bayh. Robert began working for Bayh while a freshman in college and remained on his staff for the next thirteen years. The two remained friends until the former senator’s death in 2019. Robert lives in Rockville and has been an active participant in politics all his adult life.

Sponsored by FHNN, Little Falls Village, and the Montgomery County Public Libraries.
