Spend an hour with Mike May, an amazing blind man who is the subject of the book, Crashing Through by Robert Kurson, which is being made into a movie. His mantra is “There is always a way.” In the 1970’s he lived in a basement apartment in Edgemoor while working on his master’s degree in International Studies at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and working as the first blind employee of the CIA. His incredible life includes traveling to Ghana with his guide dog to help build a school, downhill speed skiing championships in the Paralympics, meeting five United States presidents and serving as consultant to President Obama on national initiatives on adaptive technology. He has been inducted into the US Association of the Blind Hall of Fame. And so much more. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to hear him speak.
