Michael Signer was mayor of Charlottesville at the time of the infamous August 2017 Riot during the Unite the Right rally. He wrote a book, Cry Havoc: Charlottesville and American Democracy Under Siege. Subsequently he founded a bipartisan Coalition, Communities Overcoming Extremism.
