About this event
BMAV member Gary Arlen is a docent at this museum presenting the history of broadcasting - a medium which so dramatically shaped our lives from the 1920s to today - and will take a group on a 60-75 minute tour. Explore radio from Marconi’s earliest wireless telegraph to the primitive crystal sets of the 1920s, from Depression-era cathedral radios and post-War plastic portables to the development of radio with pictures (a.k.a. television), all located in the 1906 Harmel House, an old storekeeper’s residence in the village of Mitchellville. Fees of $5 pp collected on registration. The group can have lunch together at Twisted Crab or another local favorite nearby after as desired. RSVP by October 21 so we can figure out carpooling. (We have space for 3 riders in one car thus far). The museum is a 45 min drive and we will avoid rush hours.
