About this event
Join us for an art-filled day in Philadelphia! The newly-opened Calder Gardens are our main focus. It has received rave reviews, and there is a guided tour at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. It takes about an hour. The Barnes Collection and the Rodin Museum are but a stone’s throw away and can be explored on the same trip. We will take the train from Union Station at 10 a.m. and with luck will be at 30th Street in Philadelphia by noon. We can grab a quick lunch nearby and be at the Gardens in time for the 1:30 tour. We need ten people in order to get a guided tour. After that, we can go as a group or separately to see one or both of the other nearby attractions. We are planning a return at 4:30 or 5:30; we can decide whether to come back as a group or separately on our own time schedules.
With luck, we’ll get good weather and the plants and flowers will be in prime condition. Even if it rains, there is a wealth of Calder work inside the new museum at the Gardens. Train tickets are quite reasonable; when we have a somewhat final number, we can get a bloc of seats.
Contact Barbara Brown if you have questions. A number of us are already interested or signed up, and we’d love to have more! All aboard!
