About this event
With Walters Museum Docents. Fantastical creatures seem to be everywhere these days. Our first introduction to these creatures may have been through fairy tales—think of the little mermaid, for example. Or it may have been from books, movies, TV shows, or video games. This tour explores the roots of modern fantastical creatures through objects from the ancient worlds of China, the Americas, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Rome. Participants will also consider why different cultures, including our own, have fantastical creatures. Our popular docents will be Jan Thorman and Jill Reynolds.
