About this event

Wyngate & Maplewood Neighbors Helping Neighbors Village is pleased to host psychologist & therapist Venus Masselam who will discuss ways we adapt during the “Aging Adult Stage” of life. Dr Masselam will describe 3 phases of the Aging Adult Stage: young old (55-74), old-old (75-84), and oldest old (85+).

She’ll discuss the psychological well-being, cognitive state, emotional stability, socialization abilities, and physical health characteristic of each phase and, importantly, the life tasks that need attention & focus during each in order to thrive in a society that often minimizes the value of aging adults.

Also covered will be psychologist Paul Baltes's theory of the life span development process -- the need to constantly adapt to the demands and losses (physical, mental, relationship, socialization, geographic, etc.) in this process.

There will be time for questions & discussion.

Psychologist Venus Masselam, MS, AAMFT, CGP, PhD has a background in Clinical Supervision, Psychotherapy, Mental Health Counseling, Mental Health, and Consulting.
