Art is an expression of the human experience. Over time, many artists have depicted the experience of poor health, poverty, and lack of housing. These works teach us about the lives of those often removed from history, but also expose the biases of the artists and their cultural milieu. <br /><br />Take a closer look at art and objects from the Walters Art Museum in this genre with one of their docents, and then discuss how artists and the culture of their time shaped those portrayals.
