Diabetes, Obesity, and Health Equity
Overweight and obesity are risk factors for the development of type 2 diabetes. These conditions disproportionately affect minority populations in the United States. This discussion will focus on the recognition, prevention and management of obesity in the context of diabetes mellitus. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers.

Speaker introduction: Marti Brown Bailey, B.S., C.S.A., C.D.P., C.A.D.D.C.T., interim director of Community Affairs and director of the Sibley Senior Association and Community Health, Sibley Memorial Hospital
Guest Speaker: Camille Stanback, M.D.
Dr. Camille Stanback leads Inpatient Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Services at Sibley Memorial Hospital. Dr. Stanback earned her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed a residency in internal medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center followed by a fellowship in endocrinology at Emory University School of Medicine. She then served as faculty and assistant professor of medicine in Emory University’s Department of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipids before relocating to Washington, DC. Dr. Stanback treats a wide range of endocrinologic disorders in hospitalized patients. Her particular areas of interest include obesity and diabetes management. Dr. Stanback is originally from Oxon Hill, Maryland.
