What is this?
Once a month we’ll pick a restaurant and descend en masse – partly for a fun meal out, partly to sample new places (or new choices from old places!), and partly to get to know each other better.

We want to be as flexible as possible – no private room, no fixed menu, and separate checks – just a time we experience together. We can swap eating tips, share plates (if the spirit moves you), even swap tables mid-meal if you want!

Janet and Richard Dante and Reid Detchon are the co-leads for this Dining Out Together group, and we will have our first night out on Tuesday, July 19, at PLANTA, the trendy new vegetarian restaurant on Elm Street, where Café Deluxe used to be. It’s one of just a few spots in Bethesda to get a kind word out of Tom Sietsema, the Post’s restaurant critic. (https://www.washingtonpost.com/food/2022/03/25/plant-restaurant-review/)

We’re going to start early (5:30 pm) to go easy on the restaurant and get a little extra attention before the place fills up – meet up earlier in the bar if you’d like! We’ll have name tags there to help those of us with imperfect recall. At least for this first outing, we will have tables of six and four and try seating assignments. While it’s certainly fine for old friends to sit together, we particularly want to encourage unplanned arrangements, so you can get to know your neighbors better – or for the first time. You can choose to sit with your spouse if you want - or sit separately to widen the conversation.

We hope to have a robust response, but at some point we may hit a capacity limit at the restaurant – so if you want to be in our initial group, please email Janet Dante - as early as you can.
