What is this?
Our first organized trip for 2022 will be an easy ride on the Capital Crescent Trail to the Dalecarlia Tunnel. This is a perfect ride for those who might not have ridden for a few years but want to try biking again, or for those who packed their bikes away last fall and are looking for an easy warm up ride.

Meeting Location: Beginning of Capital Crescent Trail, in front of PAUL French Bakery & Cafe.

Biking Level: Easy

Length*: about 5 miles round trip

Time: about an hour

*More experienced riders may want to continue to Fletcher's Cove or Georgetown.

Don’t have a bike? You can rent a hybrid bike from Griffin Cycle on Bethesda Ave for $35/day which includes helmet and lock. Elyse Jacob has volunteered to meet people there. Contact Elyse directly if you plan to rent a bike.

The BMAV Biking SIG is for bike enthusiasts of all levels. It’s a great way to have fun with other BMAV members and get some exercise while enjoying the scenic bike trails of the DMV area. This year we plan to offer several organized bike rides from easy to difficult as well as “pop-up rides” (more spontaneous, “the-weather’s-great-so-who-wants-to-ride-tomorrow” rides). For each ride, we’ll have a leader and sweep (person at the end to ensure no one gets left behind) and will approximate the ride’s level of difficulty, distance and time. The only requirements are a bike and helmet, some previous biking experience and some sunshine. We often break for a picnic lunch, a favorite of many.

Last year we biked the Capital Crescent, the C&O Canal, the Anacostia and Rock Creek Park trails as well as several neighborhood areas. We hope you’ll join us for some riding fun this year! Questions? Contact Elyse Jacob or Stephanie and Steve Sutton
